JP drain in 4 weeks post open prostatectomy.
Hi All, I had surgery on June 11, 2018 and had the catheter in 2 weeks. The JP drain volume wouldn’t get to under -100 ml for 4 weeks! This was a drag but since I had no fever, or significant pain, I was told to carry on until it went down. It finally did , the tube was pulled and I’m doing fine. I couldn’t find much about this problem online so I want to reassure anyone going through this, hang in there. It will ebb eventually with no lymphocele forming, etc. Bladder control also improving. Glad you are doing well. Did you watch them pull out the drain? I recommend it. It sorta hurts when they pull it out but if you look at the thing you realize that it doesn't hurt nearly as much as you'd expect.

Didn't hurt at all when they yanked mine, but it did feel really weird.
