Nausea after 2 sessions ebrt?

Dan is having treatment in Atlanta. Thank you, Jack!
We will be here for two months. Ebrt with two hdr brachy.
Dan had his second ebrt treatment and he is nauseated. Was not expecting this.
We joined a gym last week and have been walking every day.
Anyone else experience nausea this soon?

Not that soon. After two doses, there isn't much radiation toxicity to cause problems. He should check with the clinic's nurse or the RO. May not be related to the treatment, but they need to know about it. There are meds that can help if it continues.

Is he getting whole pelvic radiation? It may be radiation enteritis or colitis, although it would be very unusual to experience symptoms this quickly. It may be anxiety-related. He should talk to his RO.

I certainly didn't and in fact, I'm not sure if I've heard of that as an SE of IMRT. But I've also been around here long enough to know that everyone reacts differently to treatments. I would also ask the RO for guidance.

Good luck, I also had IMRT and HDR brachy combo and I'm doing very well now with no major SEs.

RX for Zofran. Dr. McCord said “rare but happens”. Dan and I have been together for 42 years and he has never had any gut issues. Thanks for telling us to tell md- nice to have it if he needs it.

I had those issues after 1 week of IMRT along with massive diarrhea where I needed to go to ER. After that we changed the plan to exclude my lymph nodes. Unfortunately it seems the damage was done and I still have radiation enteritis and was just diagnosed with radiation proctitis. I still use Zofran for those days I get nauseous. Keep a close tab on the issues. Good luck. -JR

CaliJR- thanks for the heads up. I do not know if they are targeting his lymph nodes?
I will ask on Monday. The MRI showed no lymph node involvement but I don’t know how
much an MRI can actually detect? You had brachy before imrt? We thought we would be able
to have the hdr brachy in the middle of ebrt- but the md says August is booked up.

They did mine for that.

Also, nausea is a common enough side effect with 'ADT' chems - I get that bigtime from those.
