As far as second opinions go--
Studies show that about 30% of the time, the second opinion will vary from the first read. about half the time, it gives an upgrade, and about half the time a downgrade. Reading pathology slides is a subjective art. A general pathologist reads all kinds of tissue samples-prostate, skin, heart, etc. He or she can be very good--but differences of opinion do happen.
Dr. Epstein's group at Johns Hopkins reads ONLY prostate slides. Literally, he wrote the book on the subject. His word is the last word, and really the only one that matters.
You're right, knowledge is power. Where are you in Canada....it's a big place.
