Post Brachytherapy First Drink

Hello,

I left a previous post about brachy and flomax. Having just had my procedure finished approximately 54 hours ago, all seems well. Urination is pretty darn good all things considered.

I had LDR as they say, and 61 seeds. I'm now ready for a scotch.

Anyone else have any issue with a drink? I drank throughout my proton treatment.

Go for a good age-statement single malt.

And then come to GFMPH (see thread on the first or second page). I'll have some un-obtainiums for the Saturday night tasting.

All I can say is that bourbon is much better for you!

ldog, I did HDR brachy and it was in combination with external radiation (IMRT). I was a Gleason 9 (signature below) and several years later I'm doing very well. Low and steady PSA (knock on wood) and my only SE is that I don't urinate as well, but that's corrected with one Rapaflo every few days...

I hope everyone is doing ok. I'm just about to hit four months post brachytherapy, making me right about 25% strength now. I was told a two month half life.

I began this thread a while back. All the talk about drinking has me about to pour a scotch. I drank throughout (beer mainly mainly and occasional whiskey) the entire thing from proton treatment thru brachytherapy and to now. Not once did they even mention alcohol so I doubt it's an issue.

So I wanted to come back and give an update. I did lose 2 of my 61 seeds thru semen so I'm at 59. That was early on and the doc was all fine with that.

What I'm excited to update you all on is one, I weaned myself completely off flomax about 3-4 weeks ago, meaning last dose was around then.

My urination is no change. For the most part not bad, no pushing, just a little slow on the finish. Like I wait for just a little more. If this was it from here, I'd be good but hoping as brachy zeroes out, things get just a notch better. Very very minor burning, not so much when urinating but with semen.

Second, I got first blood PSA back! about two weeks ago. I had a 6.0 when diagnosed on 2 May 18. My score now is .78.

Happy Thanksgiving all. Hell of an appropriate day to post I guess but coincidental really, just kind of thought of posting. Sure made for a long summer.

grats man.. I drink 2 light beers every day for lunch and have my RT at 1:40. have never told the RO but the Tech's all think it's funny and say as long as your bladder is full is all they care about.. Ed

Oh hey, somehow missed this. So, there was no discussion whatsoever ever about stranded or unstranded. Not sure you asked but I know a comment was made way back then about how they are less likely to release if stranded. So, not sure but at least at this point, they are settled in I guess.
