This is my second post and I found the replies to the first one very useful. I am about
to get my third Lupron injection (3,6, 3). The side effects have been terrible, hardly can get out of bed in the AM. I have tried to exercise but very little just wipes me out. Sleep is fitful since I sleep so much during the day.
Now my Orthopedist tells me I need surgery on my left hand with a 12 week rehab. I am living with quite a bit of pain. Several questions: Will the oxycontin prescribed post surgery effect my HT reaction? Should I postpone the hand surgery until after the course of Lupron (Nov 2018). Does it make any sense to cut short the course of Lupron to 9 months instead of 12 so that the hand surgery goes easier? What risk am I taking if I do that? And another question: How long does it take on average for testosterone to come back after Lupron? I just know that I will feel so much better going through hand surgery if I feel "normal" again.

Testosterone recovery after ADT is all over the map. I think a lot depends on your age, but in general it's something like half the time you were on it to recover from it. "Recovered" means just getting to the bottom end of the normal range, not even necessarily your own baseline.
I was on Lupron and Casodex for 3 years, but my testosterone recoverd blessedly quickly, within 3-6 months it was "normal", and over the next few months recovered to well above my baseline. I felt fairly "normal" about
3 months after ADT2 was over.
On the other hand, some never recover testosterone. From what I've seen, the recovery is quite unpredictable.

Yup, being on Lupron sucks - big time. I have no idea if there's any interaction between a narcotic analgesic and Lupron, that would be a question for your pharmacist or Doc.
My T also recovered fairly quickly - at about
9 months past my 6 month Lupron injection my T was in the 300s. But I wasn't on Lupron as long as you, maybe that makes a difference in recovery times - I really don't know.

I've had several surgeries while being on Lupron, and still use opioids sometimes. I have one more surgery (base of skull) scheduled for next month. No one has mentioned the HT being a problem. Prednisone, yes, but not Lupron.
