Anyone using Vantas for hormone therapy? My new urologist has recommended an implant in the arm called Vantas. I've been taking Firmagon and Eligard injections, and would certainly prefer a yearly implant over a shot in my stomach.

Note that my initial injection of Eligard did not take! None of my physicians had ever heard of this happening before. I could tell right off that the drug was not working, since my interest in sex did not diminish. Lo and behold, my testosterone level was 613 after three months. We switched to a painful double shot of Firmagon. And now I'm back on Eligard, monthly, with a monthly check of my testosterone. The mystery of why the initial Eligard injection did not work continues. The drug company denies it was a bad batch. My hunch is that the injection was not administered correctly.

How long do you expect to be on ADT? That will tell you whether the one year depot of Vantas would be helpful. I knew I would be on for three years so we used 6 month depots of Eligard and Lupron. At the time Vantas was not suggested.

You have now been on ADT for 6 months so a one year depot would keep you on for more then 18 months. Is that your intent? With your high risk I would guess you will be on for at least 18 months so the one year depot would give you some additional convenience.

Don - Here's something that should be easy to fix (not many things in life are). The link to your blog from your profile has one too many ".com's" in it. Not sure how that happened as it looks good in your sig. But clicking on the icon at the left of your post reads as:
