Metastasis in lymph nodes

Hi,

my husband had the robotic surgery and the pathological results indicated the lymph nodes have been affected ...and most likely he may need radiation and hormone therapy when psa level goes up again..has anyone faced the same situation?

As Allen said it may be curative -

I am in same boat - PSMA Scan found cancer in nodes after removal of prostate.

I had SRT and two years of hormone treatment - am waiting to see if radiation killed the cancer!

Sorry you are here but this place has a lot of good information. Has your husband had a PET scan to rule out any other metastasis? If not he will need that. If it has spread further there are numerous options available. Here's hoping he can be cured with radiation.

You will find out that a lot of guys have faced lymph node involvement. We knew 5+ years ago that DH's node pathology came back positive. He's had radiation and hormone treatment, but he's still doing pretty much what he wants to do and loving life. There's lots of research and new treatment being developed all the time. Don't give up hope.

brother in law was diagnosed G8, PSA 20 in 2014. 1 positive node found during RALP (the node was G9). Adjuvant Radiation and 2 years of ADT. PSA has been undetectable since coming off of ADT.

I had a positive lymph node and MD Anderson's standard protocol for my situation was Lupron followed with radiation.

I was found to a have a positive node prior to my surgery. A positive node does make it more complicated than if it were completely contained, but with a plan, there still is certainly hope for successful treatment. Your post makes it sound as if you are going to wait until PSA goes up to make the next move? My PSA went to undetectable after surgery (with Lupron started prior to surgery) and has remained there since, but I continued with further treatment immediately after healing enough from surgery. If you haven't already, you might want to consult with an RO (or two) now to see what they recommend.

October will be 5 years since dx.
I had prostatectomy and they found positive node. No other mets.
My point, I’m five years out and doing well.
