Post SBRT PSA Bounce

Just another guy here who appears to be having a normal PSA bounce following SBRT treatment 14 months ago. I spoke with my Cleveland Clinic RO today regarding my PSA jump from .9 to 1.8 (in three months) and he was not concerned. He said a bounce was typical for about 25% of patients and that patients with a bounce actually experienced lower recurrence rates than those without. Dr. Tendulkar was not concerned and reduced my PSA checks from three months to six. He said the bounce phenomenon was not well understood but fairly typical 18 to 36 months following treatment. If Dr. Tendulkar is not concerned...neither am I.

Since more guys are selecting SBRT treatment for PCa I just wanted to provide some helpful information on what they might experience going forward. Other than this somewhat unnerving PSA result I found SBRT treatment for me to be a great choice. Drop in ejaculate only side effect.

Yup, there is nothing predictable about PSA after RT. I, too, had SBRT. Mine ended about 21 months ago. By the time of my 18-month PSA reading, mine had dropped to about half of what it started at, but had hit a plateau. My RO and I are both fine with that, too.

Like your RO, we just feel that as long as there does not appear to be a reversal to an increasing PSA over time, we're fine with it.
