So TA, based on your response I assume you are not an advocate for "Cancer Fighting" Diets like Mediterranean diet etc.
I really was only commenting on the fact that the OP's husband just had, hopefully, curative surgery. What is the point of changing his diet
now? The poor guy has been through a lot. Our caregivers/loved-ones often want to do something,
anything to help us - and that's admirable. But the danger is that the ones whom we most rely on to treat us as human beings (and we are all a
lot more than just men living with a disease or having been through a disease) start treating us as patients, foisting extreme diets and supplement regimes upon us. We have been through a lot, and many of us don't have the wherewithal or the desire to fight back against determined loved ones.
As for the Mediterranean diet, the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study found that among men with non-metastatic PC at diagnosis "the Med-Diet was not associated with risk of advanced or lethal PCa."
/www.europeanurology.com/article/S0302-2838(13)00830-0/fulltextBut they also showed that "there was a 22% lower risk of overall mortality among men with greater adherence to the Med-Diet after PCa diagnosis." There are reasons to eat healthier that have nothing to do with prostate cancer.
