Trimix injection hit Cavernosa Artery

I have ED, I noticed trimix talked about here. Viagra & Cialis do NOTHING. Doctor started me on testosterone ciprionate injections 1cc / week 200mg/cc strength. Went from total deflation to having some increase in size, some filling. Use of vacuum chamber 2.5psi did nothing at first. After 6 or so uses, started getting some filling. 20 more uses, now getting soft erection, not self standing. but closer to full size. Urologist said it is from atrophy, penis is sick / unhealthy, needs to get blood / nutrients / oxygen into penis. Good progress. Viaga / Cialis still no effect.
I am diabetic 2. I inject insulin. I figured if I wanted to pursue I would have to see if I could inject. Read caverject instructions on how / where, and performed a dry stick with diabetic needle. Not too bad, did not want to bother my doc if I could not follow thru!
First trimix in urologist office 27g 1/2" 0.10 trimix. Got an erection for 1 1/2 hours. OK, this works. Doc did 1st injection. Today planned 0.13 injection to make it firmer, I performed, doc watched. I had brought in 1/2" 29g. He directed, I held penis left hand, went in at 2 o'clock 90deg about 1 1/2" out from base or pubic bone. Injection OK on entry but at reaching 1/2" it hurt terriblehttps://www.healingwell.com/community/emoticons/mad.gif , like fire or hot needle from base to glans thru the center of penis. forced immediate pull out while injecting . Continued to hurt for 1 hour or more, started getting erection then back to deflated in 40? minutes.
I believe I hit the cavernosa artery. My other sticks did felt nothing like this at all. Doc not did seem to think I could hit that artery! Why not, I figure 1/2" goes into center of cavernosa, another 1/2" to exit it, plus two more 1/2" gets me thru opposing cavernosa and exits other side of penis. I AM NOT 2" wide. Especially when flaccid!!! So 2" would go all the way thru!
He said my technique was good, except for the quick withdrawl, but with that pain, who would not pull out! So, no I did not inject from the top or bottom or into the glans or other bad method.
This event spooks me on 1/2" needles, but doc says use 1/2" needle, I would rather use 8mm. Seems to me that going in at 2 o'clock 90 deg puts me on a direct path to that artery!! So shorter needle, or change angle of entry a bit. 3rd variation is how I hold the flaccid penis, making the cavernosa chamber flatten to an oval to lengthen the distance needed to hit the artery. I used to use 5/16" 30 gauge needles (aka 8mm) and they worked fine. You need to be sure to press the needle all the way in to make sure it clears the skin and the tunica albuginea.

I noticed that the stick hurt more sometimes than other times but was never bad enough that I couldn't manage it with some mild profanities. One thing I did notice was that occasionally I would hit a spot that was outside of the chambers that fill up with blood (in the more solid part between the holes in the sponge, so to speak) and that could cause problems. I could tell when it happened because the plunger was noticeably harder to depress and if I went ahead and forced the injection there three things would happen: 1) it would hurt, 2) the medicine would make a palpable lump, and 3) I would get a disappointing response. I found that when that happened I could almost always find a better spot just by pressing the hub of the needle a bit harder into the skin so the needle advanced another 1/8 of an inch and then trying again.

Some guys address the same problem by pulling on the plunger to make sure they can draw a bit of blood back into the syringe (so they know they're in a blood chamber) before they inject, but I found that the extra resistance of the plunger was all I needed to know if I needed to reposition.

If you are using 1/2" needles, you can penetrate 1/2" deep if you stop at the hub. Why are you worried about going 2" deep? It can be accomplished I suppose, if you compress the soft penis by continuing to push after you have already reached that 1/2" depth. But you are not doing that, are you?

Do you have a pump? One way to help avoid trying to inject a balloon that is flat rather than inflated, is to inflate the balloon. Pump that bad boy up just a little. Doesn't have to be much, just enough to get a hint of firmness, and pop the ring on there to keep the blood in there for a few minutes. This will give you a larger, firmer surface to that will not compress easily, making it much harder for you to go too deep. It will also make the surface veins easier to see and avoid. It will also keep the medicine from leaking out so fast if you leave the ring on for a minute of two while you massage it, spreading the medicine around. Then remove the ring and let the medicine work.

But using a pump/ring to aid injection has one drawback: the pressurized penis will tend to push blood back out of the injection hole, and might be more prone to bruise. It might also make a given dose more effective, i.e. TOO effective, TOO long lasting, so be cautious with dose. But it is a much easier target.

Being a guy who has started thousands of IVs over many years, I never could resist drawing back some blood to make sure I was in the vein, deep enough but not to deep. Worked for me. But if I wasn't, I would also expect it to be harder to inject, so that works also. I found that it takes about the same force to inject the vein as it would to inject into the air. So I practiced with water, and a given syringe(different syringe brands or types vary in the resistance of their plungers), injecting water into the air. This taught me how much resistance to injection I should be expecting and looking for. Caution: I sacrificed one syringe for practice injecting water into the air. Do not use a contaminated syringe to inject yourself. Throw the practice syringe away.

I can not tell you WHY he did not think I hit the artery, that's inside HIS head. The 2" is not about me using a 2" long needle at all, it was just reasoning that a 1/2" needle goes in far enough to hit the artery. I thought about using the vacuum pump, doc said it was not necessary. That was my first hands on injection with 1/2". I am on a learning curve, and will pay close attention as to how I hold the flaccid penis. I might very well inflate with the vacuum pump next time. I will be getting trimix delivered soon.

I deflate fast after removing the pump chamber, with a ring much slower. It does not make me very stiff, so perhaps no much pressure. I will try this approach. Inflated but not stiff.

You are welcome. And the pump is unnecessary, I did not always use it and most don't, but it is an aid. And right, only a minimal pump/stiffness is needed to assist. Just be ready to get a good amount of pressure on the puncture site immediately, as blood will be forced out a lot more than without that tourniquet(ring) on. Similar to if they drew your blood, and left the tourniquet on after pulling the needle out without even applying pressure. Not as much, but somewhat similar. And also, I would not pick the first try with that as also the first time to increase dosage. It is possible that the tourniquet will keep the medicine in there longer, giving more of an effect. But, if you remove the ring pretty quickly, that should be minimal. Good luck!
