Hello the Forum. Although I am going on a short vacation, wanted to post regarding my first two test injections. Will read on trip if I can, but will respond when I return. Last inject at the dr. office, the needle hit the cavernosa artery, ouch! Felt paint the whole length of the penis, diminishing over days. Decided to use Lidocaine jelly for the next few injections to avoid enforcing painful memories of that (just that injecting is enough to bring memories back, did not need ANY pain for a few injections). I am diabetic and inject insulin no problems. So far the two injections at home were easy.

OK, both of these home injections produce erections if I am standing up. 1st was 0.13 cc, 2nd was at 0.16cc. yes, second erection was harder. Standing up it is good. When I sit down, it weakens some. When laying down, it weakens a lot. To compare, when standing it would be enough for penetration and love making. Less so sitting. But when laying down, not enough at all. This is not because the effect is wearing off! If I stand up again, the erection becomes firm again! So, repeated standing/laying down strengthens and weakens the erection considerable! Anyone with this problem? I would expect much of my love making will be prone, not standing. Any ideas or similar experience would be appreciated.

Small doses lasted 3 hours for me.

I can tell you what your problem is -- I happen to know well, sadly -- and can suggest a few things you can try but I'm not sure any of them can be called a solution.

You almost certainly have a venous leak. The veins that drain the penis run along the outside of the erectile chambers. They are situated so that the internal pressure of an erection flattens them so less blood can leave. Sometimes those veins get a little bit stiff and hard to squash and the blood tends to leak out. The reason standing helps is that there is more back-pressure on the veins (blood needs to run uphill get get back to he heart) and they need to hold against less pressure and they leak less.

Men with venous leaks can usually tolerate higher doses of trimix. That dangerous four-hour erection you hear about happens when the veins close up too well and the blood (and the drugs) are trapped in the penis. You can talk to your doctor about working your way up to higher doses. Since the leakage washes away the drugs your risk of extended erections with trimix are less. Sometimes that bit of extra hardness you get from a bigger dose will finally collapse the veins so you can maintain an erection laying down.

You could also try some sort of compression ring to help prevent the blood from leaving.

And, after giving trimix the "old college try" you could talk to your doctor about an implant. I have a venous leak that sounds a lot like yours and I wound up with an implant.

I have a similar issue with Muse - lying down the effect diminishes, standing up has more effect.
I had the test for venous leak and apparently It's not an issue with me.

I am back from my trip. She is a wonderful lady. Expect to bring her home on next trip.

The day I got home, that evening I upped the dose to 0.20 cc. Did not get good result, not very firm nor long lasting. I was exhausted from the trip, but did not expect that would affect a Tri-Mix erection. Still learning though. Note that night and the next I have used Lidocaine topical at injection site (5 mins ahead, then wipe off and use alcohol swab), do not want much pain, to help get over the anxiety from that bad injection that hit the artery. I am getting over it. Where as at first I performed an injection like I would do insulin, darting or quick stab. Rarely feel much that way doing insulin. These last injections, I touch the needle to my skin, see if I feel it there, and move over a little if I do. When I find a fairly numb spot I add pressure and the needle slowly moves in, find this has very little pain or feeling. How do you guys inject?

Is it possible that you can inject in the right area (2 to 4 oclock, left of right, near the base to half out) and still the injection has little affect? I get the sense that some reporting an injection that did not work well, that they in fact were out of the suggested injection site. Also, avoiding visible veins.

Last night I injected 0.20 cc again, got an erection, started quicker. wore off in about 1 1/2 hrs. Firm sitting.
Firmer standing. Weak laying down. Tried an erection ring I just got. It is a loop with a 1/2" round tensioning device. Has a button for clamp release, so it is easy to tighten or loosen. It did produce a much firmer erection. Penis was very red, I can not remember seeing it that color. It was somewhat painful also. Any comments on similar experiences.

The first four injections made the front 1/3 of my cock sore. These last two injections, at higher dose, I was not sore until maybe 1 1/2 hrs later, but only minor soreness. Easy to tolerate. Makes me wonder if the pain from using a cock ring will also diminish with use.

So many cock rings seem to be toys, CBT or vibs or ???. I just want a quality device for stopping venous leakage. Any recommendations? Not the ones that transfer from a pump, but one that can be put on after erection.

It is stated to not leave a ring on more that 30 min or so. I am guessing that is to restore normal blood flow. If the
Tri-Mix erection is still strong, can the ring be used aging maybe 15 minutes later again. Perhaps I am thinking too much of myself! But, what if???

I will have to be seeing my urologist again. He stated that there are two more concentrated standard Tri-Mix preparations from the compounding pharmacy he sent the Rx to. He said that is so you do not have to inject too much volume of liquid. Any idea of what how much too much volume is? 0.30cc or more? It is in a vial like insulin. This vial contains 2.5ml. The Tri-Mix is 20mcg, 2mg, 30 mg / ml of PGE-1, Phenlolamine, Papaverine. the pharmacy is in San Diego, the cost per vial is $95. Is that reasonable or is it available significantly cheaper?

That is a mid to strong mix from university compounding. My dr started me at 30 with the low dose. hard for 4 hrs and I have NO nerves at all. I get light headed if I have to plunge more that 30. Have no idea how guys inject 100 cc. It all caused scaring in me. had to go to an implant.

Thanks for the reply. Wow, Actually 30 for us means 0.30 cc. Nobody injects 100 cc into their cock, 100 must mean 1.00 cc. Ouch.
Is it fairly certain that tri-mix causes plack or scaring and the caverject does not do this??

The numbers generally used for the volume of trimix injected are "insulin units" where one hundred units equals 1 cc (1 ml). I don't remember anybody here getting up to 100 but we've heard of guys in the 70s. As long as you are injecting in the right place 100 units shouldn't be a problem. By "the right place" I mean two things: one is injecting in the side of the penis about 1 inch from the base and the other thing is to make sure the tip of the needle winds up in one of the penile lacunae (the holes in the sponge so to speak). The lacunae are the parts that fill up with blood. They are all connected and anything you inject in one of them quickly spreads throughout the whole of the erectile tissue. It the tip of the needle winds up between the lacunae the drugs tend to form a fluid-filled lump and give disappointing results. There are two ways to make sure you are in a lacuna: You can draw back the plunger slightly and look for a bit of blood drawn into the syringe or you can just note the amount of pressure needed to advance the plunger. If you are in the wrong place the plunger is noticeably harder to depress.
I think the theory is that the plaque and scarification are caused by the physical damage from the needle, not the drugs, so trimix and Caverject should be similar. Men who have had prostate surgery are prone to Peyronie's Disease whether they inject or not. It's not clear how much extra risk really comes from injecting -- probably some but maybe not much.

Been a while since I injected. Yes I was thinking units. Tried to inject 40 units once and nearly passed out. On scaring, I had lumps all overly dick when I quite injecting. In less than 30 injections, I developed a 15 degree bend a midship. My URO said to stop injecting and get an implant. 2 months after the implant all the lumps disappeared. I have a hard dick with cold non sensitive glans and it is very hard to orgasm. Big O was better with the whole thing fat from trimix.
