October is the month when I see my uro for my annual checkup, for all things urological.
Saw him last week. The verdict? PSA still at 0.1, DRE still good, no other indications of problems.
So, he said, "See you again next year."
So why am I sharing this information? Simply to add one more voice to the chorus that long term stability with controlling this disease is very possible. Dx'd December 2011, IMRT spring-summer 2012, and apparently I'm still okay since then.
Granted that as a Gleason 6 my long term prognosis from the beginning was likely going to be a good one, but, still, six years out from treatment I'm still "batting a thousand." I'll take that for now.
Of course no guarantees that will go on indefinitely. But the smile on my uro's face as I was leaving his office, his handshake, and his cherry : "See you again next year" is enough for now.
Again, this thread's point: just remember that getting this beast down and keeping your foot on its neck is something that is very possible. Never stop believing that you too can do it.
And, as is traditional to say around here, the hypothetical online drinks are on me!
