Starting a new thread with Martian2’s question about her husband’s thigh pain. She had resurrected a 2011-12 thread on the topic.
HI! my husband had radical prostatectomy 2.5 months and he now experiences thighs pain...Had anyone experience similar issues?6 weeks after surgery, PSA =0.03 thank you!

While some guys come through RP with no trouble at all, many of us have worrisome aches and pains in the pelvis and legs that come and go for months afterward. In almost all cases, they’re not from lingering tumors or botched surgery—it’s just part of the recovery process from major abdominal surgery. Certainly report it to your husband’s surgeon, but don’t be surprised to hear the best treatment is time.
If the surgeon removed lymph nodes, there’s a small chance (7-10 percent) that he has developed a lymphocele, a benign accumulation of fluid where a lymph node used to be. A lymphocele can cause pain by pressing on a nerve or blood vessel, or even by getting infected. Some surgeons routinely order a pelvic ultrasound at 6 weeks to check for lymphocele. Most lymphoceles resolve on there own in a month or so — I had one that severely hobbled me for weeks before disappearing — but occasionally they need to be drained through a minor surgical procedure.
Despite a difficult initial recovery period, I was 100 percent after a few months. So have patience.
Good luck!
