Lamest excuse
The whole idea of it [Movember] doesn’t really excite me. - 33.3% - 2 votes
I only shave a couple times a week so a mustache probably ain't happening - 16.7% - 1 votes

The implication here, of course, is that those who do not participate by facial hair are not fully committed to getting the word out about PC.

How about this: Many of us have employment situations that do not allow the presence of facial hair (anyone who is required to wear any form of respirator as part of their job duties for example). This would eliminate, among others, fire fighters, insulators, chemical handlers, and most people who work in a majority of heavy industrial operations. Further, military officers below a certain level are required to be clean shaven.

So, I suggest perhaps that many who don't actively participate by growing it out don't do it because they want to stay employed.

Moreover, the poll was limited to the first six lame excuses...I wish it could be expanded to hold more, but that's all it can take. Besides, your hypothetical doesn't seem to apply to anyone here.

There is one important choice missing from your poll - to quote Mississippi John Hurt: "Ain't nobody's business but my own."

I resent the implication that everyone is required to "participate" or else be accused of using a lame excuse for carrying on with their own lives. I've worn a beard for nearly 40 years and a moustache even longer (grew it in Vietnam). I don't need to be bullied into shaving it off and growing it again to prove I am committed to awareness and treatment of a disease I've had for 18 years is active again.

hahaha...you totally miss the point of Movember!! Most people WANT to bring about change and raise awareness...but there's always the "I don't look good" reason for not participating.

Agreed. And, yes, there ARE employers (including the US Army) that requires individuals in certain jobs to be clean shaven. And you neither know, nor care, if anyone here falls in those categories.

Norm, if I were you, I’d take Matt max advice and take it down a notch.

The implication here is that the members who gave the reasons listed in the poll, for not participating in Movember, are lame. Blatant violation.
