Yesterday's date was my "advanced PC" confirmation DX, and here six years later, the memory still hurts. I was actually diagnosed a week and a half earlier with a PSA of 71.2 and biopsy results of 3+4 in one and 4+3=GL 7 in two of 12 cores samples. But on Nov 15th, 2012, I walked into the Uro's office with my wife to receive the results of my MRI. The cancer had already metastisized to 4 "spots" on my bones. When the Doc said 3-5 years we were devastated. I'm sure some of you can relate to that feeling of the "new normal", not exactly what you expected.

Fortunately the Urologist was wrong as here I am six years later, holding steady for 48 months of undetectable PSA , on Zytiga, with very little side efects. More importantly all blood test results are great, and I am in no pain at all currently.

I am blessed to have found a great Oncologist, and also blessed to have found this site, which has provided me with encouragement and education and friendship. I know most of you, maybe over 80% are not in the advanced PC mode, but for you all, and especially the remainder 20% with advanced PC , I am praying for healing for everyone, because we are all in this together. Thanks for the support, good words and personal outlooks, and for reminding me to live each day, really live. I like to remind every one to keep the faith (even if that borders on a rule violation) so just stay strong, and never forget to Love those closest to you .

Dan, that must have been a scary day, i can imagine how you felt and that you wont ever forget that feeling. And yet you are the poster boy for dismissing out of hand the predictions that Doctors give. If i was a Doctor, i would refuse to answer that question.

More important, congratulations on an anniversary, of sorts, and on making the Dr eat dirt. May that continue for years and years to come. You are a great contributor to this forum

about the fires: Saipan is crawling with FEMA, Red Cross, and others who have come to aid the victims of Super Typhoon Yutu. When I run into these folks I typically ask where they're from, how their experience here has been, etc. Many are from California, some close to the fires. One lady had her family evacuated and, at the time I spoke to her, didn't know if she still had a house. Yet they're staying here to help Saipan out. Huge respect for them.

I’ve experienced that disorientation twice in my journey. My PCP’s tech called about my PSA test, a full month after the blood draw. He said my PSA was 20.8 and an appointment had been made for me to see a Uro. I sensed urgency in his voice, so I looked my score up on the internet. That’s when a numbing wave swept through my body. The other time I experienced that awful feeling was going over my ugly biopsy results with my Uro

I'm really glad you're here to share this anniversary with us. You have been such an inspiration to so many of us, regardless of where we are on our individual journeys.

Wings, watched several eagles soaring today we must have twenty of them around our local landfill. always wonder how it would be to just catch the wind and fly like they do but you probably experienced that thrill a little upon reaching this milestone! Congrats!

the air quality in the bay area is presently the worst in the world and San Jose is 200 miles away from the Camp Fire.

Dan, I remember that fateful day all too well and am glad to see you making a post six years later and am glad I am here five years later to make this post. What a long strange trip this has been. It has changed me forever but am grateful that I am here. So enough of that and a great big Congratulations! You results provide hope and inspiration to many if not all of us and I wish you many, many, many more years of continued success and long life.

Wow Dan, what a ride! I am also at my High Risk diagnoses anniversary(right before thanksgiving) but a am only at 5 years, and more importantly I didn't have the mets with the doc giving me 5 years. Still, I was in shock and devastated. I am so glad to see you did not agree with the 5 years tey gave you and are still plugging along doing great at 6 years! Go man, go!

Thanks to you all, those replies really made my day...I don't often "bump" my own post up, but enjoyed reading them a lot..my wife had told me a spend too much time on this site, but those surely made her change her mind...I'm getting weepy now..must be the hormone treatments...just like I cry at Hallmark movies all the time now!
