Just got my 18 month PSA after SBRT in July of '17. Look at my signature for somewhat of a wild ride in the PSA area. Declined nicely for 6 months then went up slightly for the next 6 months. At the 15 month testing my PSA jumped up a full two points which obviously was a pretty significant "bounce". So at 15 months, my PSA was at 3.78. Imagine my surprise at 18 Months when it came in at 1.1. From what I have read, post SBRT PSA readings with bounces rather than a some decline generally result in better long term results. We shall see. For now, I'm good with it. Btw, for what it's worth, I've had virtually no side effects from SBRT for 18 months and have never needed any kind of medication.

Fantastic news!! I've been looking for your report. Happy to see that our huge bounces were proven to be just that. I've had some weird (minimal) side effects myself that I can't really say are directly related to the radiation. Everything working pretty darn normal though. Happy Happy.

Tarpon: Absolutely great. I don't think there is any worry with the bounces.
I have been a bit concerned that I really have not had any real bounces. I am still very happy.
I hope you continue doing so well.
I have had several bouts of "urinary" issues. I can pee when I want and not pee when I don't want but still some issues.
Great that you are SE free.

Thanks to all kind commenters. It does feel good to see the PSA upward movement turn and go the other way..... giving credibility to this whole "bounce" thing rather than a continuous upward trend.
Frosty..... Obviously our PSA paths are quite similar... Let's keep it going!
F8..... Good analogy... It is a wild ride for sure
Roger... Good to hear from you. I never read any issues with a consistent downward trend, only that bounces sometimes are a good indicator of positive long term results.
Thanks to all for the well wishes. As I have said many times, I am well aware how fortunate I am from diagnosis to treatment to this day. I wish all who have this miserable disease the best life has to offer.

19T - I just saw this post, and I heartily congratulate you on the progress. Your PSA is doing exactly what you want it to do -- bounce around with a strong downward trend. Yes, the research does show that after RT, bounces usually portend a better long-term outcome. That said, it doesn't make it any easier to endure the time between the "upside" of the bounce and the reduction to come.
I'm glad your PSA is finally behaving. Mine is bouncing, too, and is probably one or two test cycles behind you.

Hey Paxton.....Good to hear from you and thanks for the congrats. It does feel good to see the drop after such a big bounce, but I was pretty sure it would drop eventually simply because I have the utmost respect and confidence in Dr. Debra Freeman and her attitude is contagious. So in the future, if I bounce some more, which is pretty likely, I'll probably be OK. I don't think it's ever a real good idea to get too cocky when you have this disease because unforeseen developments do happen and I think it helps to continue to keep that perspective. Let us know how your testing goes as we go forward. It's really helpful to me to hear from all the guys who have had SBRT.

0311.....Indeed, it is a waiting game.....one of the primary differences between SBRT and surgery. I appreciate your comment and it's always good to hear from fellow SBRT patients, particularly those whose treatment came before mine. Glad you are doing well.
