I'm on medicare at present, but can not answer your question. There is no mention of MRI specifically in my book. You might ask the uro who is following you how Medicare has handled other patients.
Also, it appears you have a few years before Medicare, and things change literally every year. Beyond that, each region is managed by different administrators, so what might be slamdunk in one state may not be approved in another. You do need to get used to asking for a pre-auth for any procedures, and whether the prescribing doc & facility accept Medicare "assignment". Assignment means the facility accepts Medicare as the payment (less your 20%). If they "accept" Medicare , but not "assignment" you can be charged the difference between the Medicare price and retial.
