This is a pet peave of mine. A lot of HW guys with implants back when I got my AUS did not know how to operate their AUS's, yeah they could pee but never bothered to learn to de-activate and activate. My doctor at my recent revision commented on the same. She too had noticed that the majority only knew how to pee. Very few medical personnel, save maybe a uro, will know how to operate it. I don't have much trust that the average ER nurse, or any other, will know how to do a catheter if need be.
I recall reading very similar on a UK prostate cancer forum. One guy there spoke of this and mentioned how he ended up getting a wrist band or similar, and had stamped on that basically a warning for emergency personnel what he had and where to go for instructions if he needed to have a catheter put in.
