Upcoming PSA test post-SRT - too soon for an accurate read?

I finished my SRT in March and my last Lupron shot "ended" in May. Overall, I'm doing well both mentally and physically, but I do have a nagging question in my head. My next PSA test is scheduled for late August. Can I expect the August test to give me an accurate read on whether or not the SRT was successful, or it will it be too soon to say given that any traces of Lupron in my system may still suppress my PSA?

After 2nd-line treatments, you don't want/need just one data point...you need to observe the pattern of multiple PSA data points. So no, unless you know something more than your doctor, I would recommend following the lead on his recommendations to begin establishing your data set/pattern.

The short answer is NO. But you will get a baseline number to establish (in the future) whether there's a trend.

As you mentioned, even though you had your last 3-month Lupron shot mid Feb, the effect may not have totally washed out by now. A testosterone test would clarify that issue.

Likely not, but it will give an indication of progress.

It can take years for RT to be 100% effective and likely your T level will still be low. It takes awhile after ending ADT before T levels rises and your PSA isn't suppressed.

Honestly, it will be a couple of years before you can say for sure, but with each test, you gain some knowledge of the general progression. Your PSA may bounce around a bit before it settles to something consistent.
