WENT TO VA TODAY

Ladies and Gents, went to VA today in order to obtain a referral for Orthotics. After my appointment with my VA GP she send me to the lab to get some blood work. They must have used 4 vials to draw blood, one of these for PSA. I’m only 6 weeks post op. My Urologist wanted this done on November 12, (by his staff) which would be 3 months post op. Does it really make a difference; 6 weeks compared to 3 month. Please share, my surgery was August 19, 2019. Pre op PSA 4.2

Agree, the proof of the pudding is at 3 months, maybe 2 1/2. If it’s undetectable at 6bweeks, awesome, consider it a gift. If not, just be patient and wait for the 3 m0nth test. Also, you can’t compare your PSA test dome at the va with the one done by your url, for purposes of a trend. Different labs. Try to stick with one lab.

When my PCP gives me a script for the 7001 test that he likes to do every few months, I always cross off the PSA test before going to the lab. Unless I’m going to the same lab that My url uses

PSA anxiety causes more problems than actual PSA numbers.....Readings below 0.1 tend to drift around and cause a lot of worry. But they have little impact on your treatment plan or how long you will live....If your PSA "jumps" from .006 to .004 absolutely nothing will happen other than a big increase in your anxiety level...

Even at a relatively low pre-surgery PSA of 3.5, my 6 week PSA was 0.1. I got my first undetectable at 12 weeks.
