Good morning, All,

We met with a surgeon yesterday and are now moving forward with an AUS. Randy has had enough of 'diapers', and it seems the incontinence is getting progressively worse. Who knew you'd need to join so many 'clubs' after being diagnosed with PCa?

I'm curious, has he had radiation to the prostate bed?

Aleph: From RJ's signature on a previous comment, "SRT 3/15-7/15". So, yes, he's had radiation and, yes, it lowers his odds that the AUS will work perfectly. They're still decent, though, and even if the AUS doesn't do everything he hopes, if he is like me it will still help.

Yes, he had radiation. The theory is that radiation is the reason for the worsening incontinence. After RP, he was mostly continent within 6 weeks or so, and was pad free prior to starting radiation. He started using pads occasionally about 5-6 months after the end of the radiation treatments, on occasion. Then it was 1 per day, everyday, now it's about 3 per day.

Thanks. A few years back I looked into but the Urologist said because I had radiation that it wasn't a good idea.

Alephnull, We've spoken to a couple of different urologists and both have said that a sling wouldn't be a good idea, but that the AUS should be fine. The one we're going with said she does these a lot on men who've undergone both radiation and RP.
