Does the efficacy increase and longterm side effects decease for SRT with each passing year?

how much if any improvement in SRT occurs with each year, are advancements continually happening compared to SRT years ago

Jronne, I can’t really even speak from my own experience as I’m only 15 months past the end of SRT. (With ADT)
So far no real side effects though, and PSA back to <.05

I know the technology has vastly improved though over the years and you can’t look at guys that had SRT 10 years ago as a reference (I pulled the number 10mout if my butt, it may even be 5)

The short answer is yes. The precision of the of the machines has substantially improved over the years, allowing increased doses of the radiation.

PS, The improvements in RT may confound comparing old RT studies to current state of affairs.

Radiation is radiation. The machines get better all time in terms of targeting, dose control, image quality. Those do improve SRT, but know that many machines are upgraded in the field with these features.

The effectiveness of any RT is more due to the experience and skill of the RO and the techs running the machine.
