5 Years Past HDR and Still Bouncing

Happy New Years to All!

I don't post too much on the forum these days, as my husband was treated with HDR brachy mono in 2015. Here is a graph of his PSA over the years (my signature doesn't list them all now). As you can see from the linked graph below, it's a bumpy ride here. Today he got his latest reading, and it has come down since the last reading 6 months ago, but not quite as low has his nadir which was .67. Any thoughts on these numbers? I don't know what to think -- would love to see it < .5, but at least this latest one is lower than the previous. I don't know if I've seen anyone with these numbers, so your thoughts are appreciated! Yours, Mary

You still have a prostate, so life will be bouncy.

Nothing to worry about until you approach nadir + 2.

Prior to treatment I had some variable PSA numbers that turned out to be laboratory related. All of my blood draws were at our community hospital; however, I found out that some were sent to Quest Labs to be run. Since our hospital lab could not run “free” PSA whenever the Dr. requested free PSA those went to Quest. Our hospital lab can also farm out to Quest due to work load or equipment maintenance. The two labs used different standards and as a result there was a significant bias. Since treatment I’ve made sure that all tests go to Quest. “PCa” is a marathon and not a sprint.
