My report says, scattered over the pages:
"
1) SOFT TISSUE, PERIPROSTATIC, EXCISION: 3 LYMPH NODES, NEGATIVE FOR MALIGNANCY (0/3).
2) PROSTATE AND LEFT AND RIGHT PELVIC LYMPH NODES, .......................................................................... 9 LYMPH NODES, NEGATIVE FOR MALIGNANCY (0/9) . ,.................................
pNO: No regional lymph node metastasis
Numbex of regional lymph nodes examined: 12
Number of regional lymph nodes involved - none
Not applicable
.......................................................................................... ".
So, can anyone interpret that to tell me how many Lymph nodes were actually removed and examined?
Yes. You had 12 lymph nodes removed: 3 in a mass of soft tissue excised around the prostate and 9 other pelvic nodes removed with the prostate. All 12 were examined and found to be negative. (The total of 12 examined and found negative is stated at the bottom.)
A RP path report is usually is divided according to the separate specimens of tissue sent to the lab.
