How many lymph nodes were taken at your RP?

biopsy: 4+3=7
path: 3+4=7, one PSM (not scored), 8 LN-
Epstein 2nd path: 3+4=7, one PSM (3mm, 3+3=6), 8 LN-

I'm not really sure. Reading my report, in 3 different places, it says 3, 9 and 12. It says all negative. G9.

Biopsy 4+3, seminal vesicles involved, 24 nodes taken all neg, final pathology 4+4

I asked my doc if it mattered which were positive - maybe showing movement of the cancer cells through my system. He said he didn't know what order they were studied. He at least had them keep left and right separate - he said many surgeons don't even do that.

My surgeon also labelled left and right. But when I mentioned that the path report stated 12 were pelvic and 2 iliac, he expressed doubt that that could be determined with certainty. While the sentinel nodes (closest to the prostate) are the most likely to be positive with nodal involvement, I think it can be fairly hit or miss where the meds are.

Drumroll... not seeing it.

Saw it. Trend appears to be more nodes with higher G score. Seems to make sense.

What about us with the lower G score prior to surgery that is increased post-op? There are just too many variables with this stuff.

That is why I don't see the logic of taking no nodes with 3+3 or 3+4, given the sizeable number of cases that are upgraded. At the other end, extended pelvis lymph node dissection for RP after high-grade biopsies is debated. Yup, too many variables. When I started researching PCa, I was surprised at the number of basic questions that remain unanswered despite the hugh numbers of affected men and decades of research.

Yes. You had 12 lymph nodes removed: 3 in a mass of soft tissue excised around the prostate and 9 other pelvic nodes removed with the prostate. All 12 were examined and found to be negative. (The total of 12 examined and found negative is stated at the bottom.)

A RP path report is usually is divided according to the separate specimens of tissue sent to the lab.

Smart play.

I had one removed. Swollen place on ankle/foot ever since.

He suggested none.

With 12 removed, I had a swollen ankle for a few months post op, but then it cleared up and has caused no more problems in that regard.
