Doctors: Everyone should be wearing masks anytime they leave the house

My job is one that can be done from home. My company has been allowing some to work at home, but not everyone. I'm starting to get pissed off because there appears to be some cronyism for who is working at home rather than based on age or health issues. I'm considering going to my boss and telling him I'm 60 ******* years old and may have a comprised immune system from ADT. So, either let me work from home, lay me off, or fire me. Trouble is, I'm not sure I can truthfully say that ADT puts me at risk. I can't find good info on it. My boss would support me but he's not making those decisions. I still may make the plea based on age, but a bonafide health predisposition would help.

Get your doctor to write a note. That covers you better than fuzzy criteria about who gets to work from home and who does not.

Well, we've now surpassed China in the number of CV deaths, thanks to all the idiots who didn't shut this country down when they had the chance (and, we're just getting started).

I just got back from a 7-1/2 mile run with 3 friends. I can’t image doing that wearing a mask and what wearing one would accomplish in that situation. We are always as distance apart from one another we we rarely pass by anyone else.

I saw (another) interview with Dr. Fauci yesterday. It was pretty clear, reading between the lines, that the only reason the CDC is not recommending the public wearing masks is because of the shortage. They don't want a run on them while they are still desperately needed for health care workers. But it was pretty clear to "wear 'em if you got 'em". Yesterday I found a 3-pack of N95's with my painting supplies. My wife and/or I will be wearing them on trips to the grocery store which are really the only once a week close contact we have with anyone.

Big Brother knows best. They figure if masks were recommended, people would hoard them and people would assume they don't need to social distance when wearing one. Oops, maybe the authorities were making good assumptions. I guess many decisions are based on the "idiot factor" so prevalent in society. Nevertheless, I think we all deserve to know the accurate information when it becomes known.

Regarding the modes of transmission for Coronavirus, consider the following possibility which might help to explain why people have such different experiences with the virus. Perhaps:

A) Those touching a contaminated surface and then touching their face may most often merely experience a rather minor upper respiratory infection; but:

B) Those inhaling a significant number of droplets from the cough or sneeze from an infected person deep into their lungs may end up with a serious case of pneumonia.

It may eventually turn out that elderly people may not get seriously sick from touching an infected surface, while healthy young people may die if they inhale a large enough number of droplets.

This is speculation, of course. But it might make sense. It could also explain the choir practice case, assuming that is not a case of fake news. They took care not to touch infected surfaces (others attending the rehearsal) but it seems they all inhaled droplets from singing.

Well, Washington is different from here in Montana. Social distancing has been a way of life here for many decades.

Well, if Dr Fauci can barely contain his laughter when our leader speaks about the pandemic, I don't suppose the Chinese government is any better.

manich I know all about Dr. Li, and what China's response has been to this pandemic. I know it in great detail. And, yes Sinophobia is the correct word. I don't believe in outdated 1950s ideas, like seeing "commies" under the bed. I know who handled this well, and who hasn't. China's the safest place in the world right now.
