Hypothetical question re: procedures.

If a person has a photosensitive ablation ( i think that is what it is called) that takes out a portion of an oversize prostate and there is PCa present does that promote the growth of the cancer outside of the gland by releasing the cancer cells? Let's assume there was no biopsy prior to the procedure.

PCa cells have found to be highly circulating in the blood of most men over the age of 50. As mattam says, the only ones that will become viable and cause Mets are the aggressive mutated G4 and 5 cells. Most men have G3 and it can not live outside the prostate environment and is widely believed to not develop into G4 or 5. It has long been held that prostate biopsies and other such procedures that probably do release PCa cells do not foster spread.
