Friday (dark) humor: how the masked shopper vs. the unmasked shopper will be resolved

Why, it's simple. Darwinian evolution will apply.

In any given store in any given place on any given day:

1. Some shoppers are masked. Some are unmasked.
2. The masked shoppers are better protected from the virus than the unmasked ones.
3. More unmasked shoppers will thus contract the virus than masked ones.
4. More unmasked shoppers will thus become sick.
5. And more unmasked shoppers will eventually die. They don't return to the store.
6. This scenario is repeated from store to store across the land.
7. Eventually masked shoppers come to dominate store aisles, shopping-herd-immunity is achieved, and the mask-versus-unmasked controversy is entirely resolved.

Dark humor? Yes. But maybe there really is an element of truth to such a "Darwinian" evaluation of masked vs unmasked?

And maybe not just in shopping places.

Interesting study there 81GYGUY. But what about the people who swear the virus is made up. Its all a hoax or its some secretive plot to control the population through vaccines? I am amazed at all the people who think Covid is not real yet we have over half a million dead world wide.

As for me I wear a mask everywhere I go. Believe me I don't go out anymore than absolutely necessary. Mainly drs visit or food shopping.

It would be true if masks protect the ones wearing them.

Check CDC website.
Masks prevent a person who is infected from spreading it.

I'm getting ahead of things, but when we finally get a handle on the CV, I wonder how many people will elect to continue wearing masks? Will it be viewed by most to be a normal and acceptable accessory?

I think it will.

Nope, it does not.

From the CDC.
The same article recommends cloth face masks.

"A cloth face covering may not protect the wearer, but it may keep the wearer from spreading the virus to others."

If we all decide to film this scenario for YouTube, I want to try out for the role of "THE MASKED SHOPPER" ~ just sayin' !

If given the part, I promise to memorize all my lines in advance & provide my own ... well ... COSTUME !

My mask collection is increasing, by the way! I have a very protective and ...may I say STYLISH ... cardinal and gold "Iowa State CYCLONE" mask!

This morning on the "dumb**s of the day" radio segment they talked about a woman who pushed her cart, containing a large flat screen TV, out of a Walmart without paying. When confronted by security she ran and got away. However, police are confident for identifying her. They have a clear security camera image of her face, and you guessed it -- she wasn't wearing a mask. Lol

Until this year, with the cancellation of the Iowa State Cyclones vs. the Iowa Hawkeye rivalry game ... locally known as the "Iowa Super Bowl" ...

Nothing better than that Cy-Hawk Showdown each fall at Jack Trice Stadium or Nile Kinnick Stadium!

Here's to next year, though, MATTAM!

Intermission is over ... the stage curtains are opening ... and now back to the MASKED vs. UNMASKED SHOPPER thread, once again!
