OK, I need to vent somewhere, so I came here. A little history. 7 years ago, our next door neighbor was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She was a PA, as was her husband. Age 39. 3 children, all school age. Despite all efforts (MD Anderson, etc.,), after 3 years of fighting it, she died. My wife was one of her caregivers for the last 6 months of her life, and still has not completely recovered from her death. She was a wonderful person.
Fast forward to present. After her death, their house was sold to a new family. A doctor with wife and 3 children, all school age. We became good friends. Last Sunday, we were out in the yard pulling weeds and the husband Doctor came over to talk to us. He had bad news. His wife, age 51, has just been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She has a life expectancy of less than a year. She was a person who did everything right. Didn't smoke, ate right, exercised, not overweight, didn't abuse alcohol. Yet here she was with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
We were stunned, and immediately memories of our past experience began to run through our heads. We offered our help in anyway that we could, and of course, our prayers. What a gut punch to have to go through this again. I am so bummed out I have to share it with someone. Thanks for reading.
