Reminds me of an article I read a while back, about
how well the best baseball players of old would fare if playing for one of today's teams.
I checked my search history and indeed it was still there (although actually there are lots of articles on the web on this topic).
But this one (linked below ) had some good points to make on both sides of the argument, as well as reasons why the author thinks the modern game is less exciting than the one from decades past.
On the matter of great past players making the squad today, I remember reading another article on the subject once that maybe came closest to the best answer. And that was that the best players from times past would have had no trouble in making rosters today, and probably would have had good, some great careers, although maybe not at the level they had in their own day. But the average players from back then wouldn't even make the squads today.
