My AUS AMS800 is approaching 11 years old.. I remember my Urologist telling me they can last up to 15 years.. So I am pleased to be sure. Anybody over that amount of time?

Wow-12 years! That's impressive. DH's is 6 1/2 years. More leakage as time goes by.

Yes, I do have more leakage, I attribute that to the cuff not being very tight. And
I am ok with that so I do not get any erosion of the urethra.
I wear a Depends Men's Thick pad, and I slip a folded paper towel between it to
catch the drips and drabs it makes when I bend over, sit, sneeze..... whatever. Then
I replace it each time I void. Keeps me fairly dry.

I’ve only had mine for a little over a year and it works just fine. My uro said about
10 years until it could start leaking. I am so satisfied with it I’d gladly go through recovery again to keep it working.
I was told that since Boston Scientific now own AMS they are working on a high tech upgrade. One of the features will be Bluetooth access to set the tightness of the the cuff. While the clinical evidence is sketchy on whether releasing the pressure on the cuff will put off erosion of the urethra, it would make sense to dial it back when not needed. My uro said she’s not convinced that constant use of that poppet to lock it
open is recommended. They are also supposed to look at making the cuff tighten automatically when abdominal pressure is increased such as lifting, sneezing, etc. Being able to
open the cuff with a voice command on the phone sounds attractive (with proper security, of course) rather than trying to fish around for the pump on a really cold winter day when I’m out on a trail run.

Now that would be a hoot doing a voice command .... “PEE” “STOP PEE” It would be fun just to demonstrate it to people!!
