The Covid vaccine guidelines in Georgia states that if you are the caretaker of someone over 65 you are in group 1(a) to receive the vaccine (first group). Randy, is in group 1(c). My 78 year old mom lives with us and I am her caretaker...sort of. While I handle all her business, she's relatively healthy. But, because she's over 65 and lives with us, I can technically go to the front of the line. Other than being a little overweight, I'm healthy. No blood pressure issues, cholesterol problems, diabetes. Nothing. Right now, my daughter and son-in-law and 5 children, are living in our home with us while their home is being gutted and renovated. Yes, that's 10 people in a 4 bedroom house. Three of my grandchildren are school age and attend in person classes. My son-in-law is a nurse practitioner in the local ER, and has already had both doses of the vaccine. My job is "essential", so I go to work everyday. My son-in-law wants me to go ahead and get the vaccine because I can and because of our crowded living conditions. He worries that the children will bring home the 'rona, or that I will. Randy had a particularly bad year, with surgeries and radiation cystitis, although, he's doing well now. I'm torn between jumping to the front and waiting. Somehow it seems wrong to take a vaccine that could go to someone who is older/in questionable health. But I also want to protect my own house. What say you?

Donna, New Jersey just announced that those who smoke are therefore at high risk and go to the front of the line......

You're in the category they are actually trying to help first. If you qualify (and it sounds like you do), then I'd go for it.

Go for it! Hopeful - Ohio will figure this out. No one has reached out to the stage 4'ers or 65 plus.. Yet...

You are NOT jumping the line, IMHO, and deserve to be vaccinated.

Thanks guys. I just can't get the image of a young healthy Senator (Covid denier), jumping to the front of the line. I also find it odd that cancer patients are so far down the list.

The fastest way to herd immunity is get it while you can. Everything I have read in the last two days is they want to accelerate the rollout. Every person who gets vaccinated ultimately has a good reason. If the opportunity presents itself take it.

But Charles Barkley says the 25 year old professional athletes should get it because they pay so much in taxes. That means my 91 year old mother-in-law who lives on social security should not get it as she pays no tax.

Get it when you can get it and support proper distribution plans. Looks like Texas and Florida are leading the way. Texas is the first state to vas more than a million.

Me?..I'm happy in paradise...vacacinated 75+...in in out in 30 minutes...among rainbows and slipper toes...eyes smiling thu masks of aging woes...l'il round heads high on creaking waists bent low...ahh...living faith...via sighs of silence echoing off youthful girls wed in sharpen smocks...a touch...a grace...a hope as they sting a bit...soothe a bit...then left with nods given and received...the younger...now older...the older...now younger...is this not life...is this not beauty...in and out in 30minutes....

Get it as soon as you can. It takes several weeks after the first shot to start to be effective and then both shots to get the protection from the disease that is advertised. The sooner the better to be protected.

I know of a young 35ish person that stopped by his pharmacy to get a rx just before closing. The pharmacy experienced two people scheduled for the shot that didn’t show up and offered the shot to the young person. The young person said it wasn’t his turn and the pharmacist said that at closing time he would have to discard the vaccine and then no one would get it. The young person got the shot.

So, whatever opportunity arises for this, grab it. Initial reports are that many doses are being discarded as the shelf life is short. New York had terrible results over the last two weeks because of this. Terrible to see any of the very limited supply going to waste.

You are part of a four-generation household. The news has focused on the terrible toll the virus can wreak within multi-generational households.

You qualify to get the shot ~~~ and this can help you PROTECT your family and entire household.

Each of us will qualify for the vaccine, in time, as the days and weeks roll along.

You receiving the vaccine can protect others in your household --- and your community, as well.

Take heart in that ---- and let that be your foremost thought!

I am very thankful that a few of my family members have already received the vaccine. When my time to qualify rolls around, they will be just as thankful for me.

Randy, with all you're doing, the traffic in your home, and your many responsibilities, you deserve to be at the front of the line. Don't put your family in added danger, get the vaccine as soon as you possibly can.

Down here in SoFL, people of all ages are pouring in from other states and other countries, and are getting vaccinated with no concerns about anyone else. Until, of course, the serum runs out, and everyone behind them is sent packing. So much for 'fairness'.

You, on the other hand, need and deserve to be vaccinated ASAP. Good luck!

Thanks, all. I had an appointment for Sunday at our local Publix. I gave it to an elderly lady on our street (age 81) who has been trying to schedule an appointment for a while, but had no luck. I am now rescheduled for later this week and intend to get vaccinated then. I appreciate all the input.

Anyone who can get through on the web sites or the phone lines can get a COVID vaccination. Our local news has shown folks from Canada, Great Britain and Germany. To say nothing of the "medical tourists" from New York who get an appointment and fly down for the weekend for their shot. It's the wild west here...

I could argue either side of the 'is it right or wrong' question.

I think the OP deserves her place in line.

As for all the BS that is apparently going on... well, I guess the bottom line is to get as many people vaccinated as soon as possible.
