Does anybody here have both PCa and Bladder Cancer?

I am trying to connect with those that have both PCa and Bladder Cancer for advice. I will be seeing a bladder cancer specialist for consultation regarding bladder cancer next week.

History of Hematuria:

November 2018, blood and some blood clots in urine. Assumed it was a side effect of Radiation Therapies (HDRBT and IMRT).

March 2019, developed stricture with complete blockage and unable to void. Had an emergency urethrotomy. Dilated with foley catheter indwell 25Fr for three days.

June 2020, had blood in urine for about 5 days then cleared. Cystoscopy failed due to urethra narrowing (stricture is back). Estimated stricture narrowed to 8Fr.


June 29, 2020, Retrograde Urethrogram by a reconstructive urologist

July 10, 2020, XR Retrograde Urethrogram and Voiding Cystourethrogram by Dr. Joel Gelman at UCI.

January 8, 2021, again blood in urine for three days and then stopped.

January 16, 2021 Blood in urine again and continues.


Prostate Cancer Gleason 9 - HDBRT, IMRT, ADT, ZYTIGA

August 2012, Gleason 6 followed Active Surveillance
May 2017, Gleason 9, Dr. Leonard Marks at UCLA

Treatments
06/16/17 First Eligard Shot
07/10/17 Started Zytiga
08/30/17 HDBRT - UCLA
09/19/17 IMRT
10/23/18 Last Eligard Shot - 3 Months, Effective Till 01/23/19 - Eighteen Months
01/10/19 Last Zytiga Dose - Eighteen Months

I am sorry that you have had so much trouble and hope that next week's consult will show that you don't have bladder cancer.

There’s people check in from time to time that’s had both. That said...

It’s not uncommon for bleeding to occur with no reason found.

I had bleeding while on blood thinners for clots in my leg. Lasted for weeks if not longer. No cause was found. I quit the blood thinner early because of it.

It wears a man down psychologically. Hang in there.

My money’s on you not having bladder cancer.

Let’s hope my money is well played.

Edit: I’ve also had it without blood thinners. So did my mom for a while. They never found a problem.

One of the times they did say it could be from a kidney stone or cyst. I think it was a guess on their part by process of elimination.

The stone was too large to pass. And no pain was associated with it. They may look for stones.

Just an update,
Bio-Marker test, CXBladder, came in at 4.6, 4 is a cutoff point for unlikely to have BC. However, the people at CXBladder kindly explained that, had it not Been for the qualitative factors, age, gender, former smoker, and blood in urine three different episodes, I would have been a low risk. The five mRNAs associated with BC in the sample were not elevated.
I had two different genomic tests for my PCa, both showed low risk, but I was diagnosed with G9 on the fifth biopsy, I was on AS for five years and my PSA was between 3.xx to 5.3 at G9. My PSA was rising gradually. I think the genomic tests were performed on the G6 samples.

I had a CT urogram, pelvis and abdomen on Tuesday, both unremarkable. Thank god.

Next week will be meeting with another reconstructive urologist, he may be able to do a cystoscopy using a pediatric scope, due to my urethra stricture, normal scope won’t work. Cystoscopy is the only definitive diagnosis as it is looking inside your bladder. I hope he has the pediatric scope (half as small in diameter as the normal scope), otherwise it won’t work. My urologist does not have one.

Will post the update when available.

Good luck next week, sounds like you are having a tough go with this problem. Never had the pleasure of the scope, the urologist’s office always seems like a scary place to me since the first time I visited one years ago. Always was worried that he would say that he needs to take a look in there. I would have asked for a pediatric scope if I had knew there was one. Now I know...

All the best to you. Glad the biomarker tests and CT were OK and hope you can get the cytoscopy. As the supportive veteran guys have said, stay strong!
Had 4 brief episodes of hematuria around Christmas, none since and no blood detected on urinalysis; had CT three weeks ago but have not seen results, cytoscopy scheduled for 2/16. “It will be fine I assure you because I had one,” said the urologist.
