Using 177Lu-PSMA-617 Earlier, A New Clinical Trial

So it seems Novartis is going to start a new clinical trial to determine the effectiveness of 177Lu-PSMA-617 treatment after failure of surgery/radiation primary treatments.

It looks like a really big study, with >1000 participants with enrollment starting in March.

A good start for those newly diagnosed. I always wondered why experimental treatments(in U.S.) were not offered earlier.

Thankful for clinical trials that can lead to new treatment plans ...

We need more advanced treatments for our comrades who are hitting a "brick wall" after their initial treatments ...

Let's chisel out more open DOORS in that brick wall ... and continue to broaden the treatment landscape ...

Thank you to everyone here who has participated in a clinical trial ... past, present, and ongoing ...

Thanks for the info. I've had my eye on LU-177 for awhile, hoping it would be FDA approved early this year. I'm thinking it's my best next tx, given a PSA rise from 2.0 to over 29 the past year. Trial would be nice, depending on the logistics. Can't seem to get Novartis to answer the phone (after 3-4 menu selections) and nowhere does the govt clinical trials listing say where you'd have to go for this trial. Indianapolis? Hope not, with no disrespect to the Hoosiers... Still available in Australia, but with COVID restrictions, I'd have to live there for 4 months... Thanks again for the post.

The estimated start of this trial is May of this year, so they may still be recruiting study sites. With that high an expected enrolment, I think there is a very good chance there will be sites across the U.S and abroad. For more info, I would try the Novartis email link under Contacts.

I also wanted to add ...

While we all await the approval and emergence of novel medications to help our "brothers in the battle" ...

This thread is a shining example of an existing treatment, used in a different way.

We've seen this happen with TAXOTERE, when the "early chemo plan" rolled out, just in time for me to jump on board --- and other medications like ZYTIGA, which has now become a frontline medication, in certain situations ...

While we wait for those new breakthroughs, I am thankful to see researchers expanding the usefulness and efficacy of existing treatments and medications, used in new ways ...

Here's to more options & expanded usage of effective medications!
