Anyone have any info on ENVITA in Scottsdale, AZ? They talk a good game

Don’t know anything about them, but they are advertising a lot in Florida as well. Sounds like the integrative method that Cancer Treatment Centers espouse. Regarding CTCA, I have known people that have done well and some that did not, and I know a few docs with them that are well regarded.

For your question are you considering seeing them? Why them and not the docs you have been using? Find out directly from them why they are more experienced and get better results than your docs or Mayo or MD Anderson, etc. give them a call and get to their dedicated prostate cancer oncologist and assess the doc and approach and experience with people in your condition and worse.

I have one oncologist who is the General: nothing happens without his knowing about it. Otherwise there are several other oncologists who sometimes recommend or are willing to do things (like BAT) that are off label.

I saw ENVITA had some PDL-1 inhibitor that sounded like it was a natural homeopathic treatment. This strikes me as possibly helpful with little downside risk, compared to some drug or other unusual treatment. I will call and speak with them but I assume they have a very good pitch and have to take what they say taking into account where it's coming from. CTCA is an interesting idea. I've seen a lot of their ads. Thanks for mentioning them.

As you research what Envita says they do and the drugs they use, remember they don’t have anything your current doctors do not have. You are only going to receive FDA approved medicines that all doctors have available. If Envita or anyone else is using a substance calling it a drug or medicine that is not FDA approved, that is patently illegal very potentially dangerous. After you have researched the specific drug or treatment ask your current docs about it.

Regarding the supposed PDL-1 inhibitor, what is their evidence of efficacy and results? Clinical trials? Or just anecdotal reports? If what they have really works, then everyone would be using it and it would be very well tested and reported. There are several PDL-1 and PD inhibitors already approved by the FDA, and several in experimental use. This has been studied and developed for several decades. The question is, are any indicated as being effective for your specific cancer? My brief reading indicated they are being used for 9 different cancers, but none are approved for use for PCa.

To be more specific, one PDL-1 inhibitor that is approved and used by very very few PCa patients is Keytruda. Very few men meet the criteria, though. I remember a couple on the board a year or so ago were using it. Haven’t heard from either in quite awhile.

Keytruda came to recognition when former President Carter successfully used it for melanoma that had spread to his brain. It was first developed for metastatic melanoma and then used in trials for some lung cancers. I think it was in 2019 that the FDA approved it for a few other solid tumor cancers including PCa, but only in men that had a certain genetic profile, which is very rare. One side effect is that it can wreak havoc on the immune system and cause a quick death if not recognized immediately, so it comes with significant risk.

If you haven’t been screened for the PDL-1 profile, I would ask your doctor about it.

CTCA and similar advertise a holistic approach to treatment. That includes diet supplements, which they sell for an absurd price, and emotional support.
