Brrrrrrr... !
Probably not something that most of us would relish doing, although in some countries, especially those in northern Europe, it's been a standard way to have a good swim for centuries
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zhhqrd86foBut are there actually real health benefits that can accrue from swimming in icy waters, in spite of all the uncontrollable shivering which it would likely cause in most of us? Positive heart stimulation? Invigorated breathing? A euphoric psychological feeling?
Well, here's an article which claims that that is indeed the case, and lists what it claims are specific health benefits supposedly derived from taking a plunge into icy waves and splashing about
.
https://miosuperhealth.com/ice-cold-facts-the-surprising-benefits-of-swimming-in-cold-water/Of course one can be pardoned for thinking "There must be an easier way to get those health benefits," and that's probably true.
But of course with winter now approaching it would be so easy enough to dash out on a chilly day and take a dip in the local pond, lake or such, before they freeze over of course, and thus reap the benefits of a nice, cold swim. Definitely chilling out
But one doesn't even have to wait for winter. Just fill your bathtub with tap water, go down to the nearest corner food store, buy a few bags of chipped ice, bring them home and dump them into the bathtub, wait until the water is nice and icy, then jump right in! You'll start getting those health effects in no time!
OTOH, maybe it's not so unreasonable after all to think "here must be an easier way to get those health benefits."
