Radiation Therapy

Htownman, i didnt have time to watch the video, but i do believe there has been huge improvement in side effects with the newer technologies, not only the machines, but the software used, make the process much more precise.
From my own experience, i had Salvage Radiation, which was finished 2 1/2 years ago, some minor side effects (a little dribbling, maybe a bit more urgency,), but it all resolved on its own a few weeks after treatment ended.)
Everyone is different, but i believe it had to do with the skill of the technicians and the power of the newer technologies.

I’m a radiation guy and agree with what Dr. Scholz is saying. Before I selected a treatment everything I read pretty much said the same thing. Modern guided radiation is safe, effective and delivered very precisely. I decided to go with the five treatment SBRT plan. My side effects were very minor and temporary. I did have some mild burning when urinating. It lasted about seven to ten days and resolved on it’s own without medication.

Every treatment comes with some undesired side effects and risks. However, I believe a lot of men who choose surgery would be better served with radiation. Some men do very well with surgery especially those also suffering from BPH; however, for me the risks of urinary and sexual side effects were just too high. No matter the treatment one chooses I recommend seeking out the best practitioner and team you can find.
