Hello, D. Larsen ~~~
Welcome to the forum!
We're a BAND OF BROTHERS here --- and we have loyal SUPPORT SISTERS who stand right alongside us here.
You've been through some treatments, and I can tell you're going to be an invaluable new member. Check in often --- and post along the way. We're all in this together!
In answer to your question --- in regard to some side effects following proton beam treatments.
I had 45 radiation treatments --- given each weekday --- over the course of nine weeks.
There WERE some urinary and digestive issues for me --- following my treatments. These side effects were characterized primarily by URGENCY.
In other words, the side effects could be characterized by this phrase:
"When you gotta' GO, you gotta' go RIGHT NOW!"
Patience and time became the magic elixirs.
I focused on healthy foods, and avoided greasy & fast food choices. That really helped.
I focused, too, on healthy hydration.
WATER is your new best friend ---- alcoholic beverages and caffeinated beverages are not your best friends right now. Caffeine can irritate the urinary tract and create additional urgency, as you continue to heal.
Following treatments, your body is healing --- internally.
Stay in touch with your medical team --- continue to share updates and concerns you may have, in terms of lingering side effects.
I had lingering fatigue --- so I set an earlier bedtime. That helped a great deal. Even an extra half-hour of sleep paid dividends.
To BOLSTER energy, I took a daily walk. Even a thirty-minute walk makes a difference. It boosts circulation & fosters healing.
It means a lot to know you have been reading here for a year. It's affirming to know we have many readers who check in here --- from across the globe.
It's tremendous, also, that you have now shared a post!
A hearty welcome to you, D. Larsen!
Handshake, support, fellowship ~~~
