This is totally OT, and will probably get locked (political), but ...

... the link below is such a stark reminder that history truly repeats itself, again and again, that I felt compelled to post it.

The animated sequence linked below is from the 1968 film "The Charge of the Light Brigade," which was about that 1854 ill-fated incident during the Crimean War.

It was a different war of course, and the countries in the animation, and its recording of events, are different (all except for one country), but the overall account the animation gives is so chillingly similar to what's happening today.

History repeating itself, indeed.

Being a hick town intellectual I only cared for two poems in my life. Casey at the Bat and The Charge of the Light Brigade.

If I could see the current news images in black & white ~~~with the scenes of desperate refugees, hastily packed suitcases, the destruction of cities & homes, the mass graves for civilians, and displaced refugees boarding trains to escape --- it closely mirrors and evokes the historical images we have all seen from World War II and the Holocaust.
