Have a couple of questions for those that have had treatment at MD Anderson in Houston.
Very brief background:
After a year of tests, rising PSA and biopsies I had prostate cancer (Robotic) surgery at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale Arizona. The pathology report from the surgery indicated 4+4 with no indicated spread of cancer outside the prostate. The Doctor told me that I was cured. Having done lots of research I didn't say anything but thought, time will tell.
The surgery was performed 1/10/2010 and my psa has been <0.05 until 3/18/19. PSA readings:
3/18/19 0.05, 8/13/19 0.06, 11/13/19.06, 9/8/20 0.08, 6/2/21 0.10, 9/14/21 0.12, 5/18/22 0.22
My local doctor and a Dr. at the Mayo Clinic said to just watch see if the PSA continued to rise.
Decided to visit MD Anderson for their take on the situation. Am scheduled for a PSMA-Pet and MRI plus several other tests next week.
My wife and I are looking for input concerning lodging while these tests are being done. Online searches indicate that there are areas around the hospital that have high crime rates and looking for a safe place for at least a week, possibly a couple of months. Retired on a fixed income and from a one stoplight town so looking for suggestions.
Thanks
