quick question, had robotic prostate surgery 11 weeks ago

overall I am doing fine, just two issues, possibly related

when I pee, I get spasms in my rectum which subside after a few minutes

also, I feel like i have to have a bowel movement but cant, and my rectum sometimes feels like
it is stitched closed feels much better after I do have a bowel movement

not the worst pains but if these both go away, I will be very happy

have others experienced something similar, is this normal, is 11 weeks too soon after the surgery to be all healed

In most cases, you are not fully healed at 11 weeks after surgery. The wounds may be healed but the internal body parts take longer to heal and get settled in to their “new normal” condition. I had some similar issues with butthole cramps that went away after a few minutes. Good bowel movements were always productive and felt better afterwards. Random aches and pains seemed to pop up here and there that diminished over time. I asked similar question a few months after surgery and most will tell you 6 months to a year for full recovery but everyone is different. I had hernia surgery 2 years after prostate surgery so it can be the gift that keeps on giving for some.

Increasing fluids and fiber intake should help with the bowel movements. Most things will go away eventually. Hang in there.
