New Patient... treatment through the VA what can I expect..

I've been a patient in the VA system and in a private hospital that was supposed to have a high ranking. I can say with certainty that the care, treatment and service I received at the VA hospital was far and away the best. Kept me in recovery for 4 fricken days due to low BP after surgery. The private hospital wanted me out ASAP and, as a result, I developed a complication (which had severe potential) and I had to be readmitted. Luckily, I was readmitted to the VA hospital that solved the problem and sent me home fully recovered. Choice between the VA and a private hospital? Give me the VA any day of the week. Now I understand that not all VA hospitals are equal. So that must be taken into consideration. But the one I go to save my life TWICE! It made a believer out of me!

well i've certainly received great care through the VA over the years... few years back I had to take the ambulance into the local hospital for what I thought was a appendicitis (turned out to be kidney stones) but once I told them I was a vet, it was like I had the golden ticket. I was in a private room on the luxury floor.... and they kept me there as long as they could with my high BP. then a couple years later I had elbow and knee issues, and follow up knee surgery. I received community care and had a local Therapist do the therapy. After months working with them I found out why the regular Medical community treat the vets like gold. Apparently as far as billing is concerned, they love working with the VA Billing system. Getting paid is like clockwork as apposed to the insurance companies which are a pain in the ass to deal with..... So, we really do have it good with the VA.
