PSA after radiation treatments

2 years ago I had 45 radiation treatments. I had been diagnosed gleason 8 with a psa of 26. 15 months after my last lupron shot my psa is .071 What psa should I hope it to stay below?

Willie…Since you still have a prostate some PSA will be normal. It’s a good idea to maintain a chart of your PSA and I would advise regular PSA testing. Every six months is good and every four months is better at least until you can determine what’s a normal value for you. Your PSA trend is very important. I would advise staying with the same lab. It’s also a good idea to avoid sexual activity and cycling or things that might put pressure on your prostate increasing your PSA. A value of .07 appears very good; but, follow the trend. Terry

When diagnosed some 26 months ago, my PSA was 8.7. Biopsy yielded a Gleason of 3+4=7. I chose IGRT versus surgery.

Like you, it was 45 sessions over nine weeks - - and then the wait for the first post-radiation PSA - sheer agony! And then it came in at 2.38.

Now, I have been holding steady at 0.9 for the better part of one year. One test saw it go up to 1.4 and I panicked. But our Brothers on this site told me the same things they are telling you and that talked me off the cliff.
