Cleveland Clinic was 1st US hospital for single port in September 2018. I had single port with Kaouk at Cleveland 2/19 and I think I was his 46th US patient for the procedure. He did these surgeries in Europe prior to US approval.
My experience, had the surgery, the anesthesia was so good I felt like I woke up from a nap, they wheel chaired me over to a king size bed with fluffy comforters at the Continental Hotel attached to the clinic, ordered a full meal from room service, got a great nights sleep and early the next morning my wife drove me 4 hours home.
Post surgery he only prescribed 2 Percocet tablets and Tylenol and I didn’t need either. No abdominal pain at all anytime from the surgery, but I did have shoulder pain from the gas used during surgery. Urinary catheter out nine days later and I considered myself recovered in 4 weeks. Erectile function recovered after about
12 months. Today you really have to look hard to see where the incision was made under the navel.
Kaouk is the Director of Cleveland Clinic's Glickman Urological & Kidney Institute Center of Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery. Kaouk is a genius (he was instrumental in developing the procedure and testing/improving the robot used for the procedure) and is a caring surgeon. Kaouk is probably in the top ten urological surgeons in the US and maybe internationally.
