If a man has PCa and he's taking .4mg of tamsulosin [flomax] will that decrease his PSA levels?

I spent a few minutes via GOOGLE and found-> "Most of the patients (96.6%) diagnosed with prostate cancer on biopsy had no significant decrease in the total PSA level with tamsulosin treatment."

Sammas - Not sure what you are thinking but taking meds to reduce PSA is like taking aspirin to reduce a fever, it does little to change the underlying cause.

I followed Steve’s lead and found articles that Flomax can reduce PSA? This is a complicated interaction area and involves things like aspirin and statin drugs that have been observed to lower PSA. Beats me what the right answer is as studies seem to pop up all the time on both sides of the issues.

my apologies for giving off the impression that i wanted to take meds to reduce my PSA. i stopped taking tamsulosin about three months ago and two days ago, i had a slight big bump in my PSA. so i was wondering if that was a culprit.

my treatment for PCa was six mths of bicalutamide and HDR brachytherapy 27Gy

Sorry to think that, probably read more into it than was there. I know you are in one of those anxiety moments with your last PSA. Yes, it is possible that there could be some contribution so you just wait for the next test which should answer that question.
