Is there a way a man can unknowingly re-ignite cancer cells or keep the cancer cells that have been treated from dying? Let's say for example I had twelve PCa cancer cells, they were all treated with HDR, but so far, only four of them died. Is there a way a man can unknowingly do something that would keep the rest of the eight cells from dying in spite of the fact they were treated with HDR?

Your scenario is one reason ADT and in some cases a second generation hormone drug is given with radiation. The problem with your 12 cell scenario is some of the cells may have already been outside the radiation field.

Having a low BMI and a Mediterranean diet can help. Smoking is a definite no no.

So, are you sayin' with the six months of bicalutamide I had gives me a better chance at surviving?

Sammas, the short answer to your question is yes, the chemo improves your chances. Honestly, with a 3+4, you're probably good for a long time.

The question about those few pesky cells being left behind is the reason we keep an eye on PSA forever. A rise in PSA would be the first indication of trouble. I saw an earlier post where you asked about whether you were having a bounce. Well, you're 3 1/2 yrs since HDR, which is a bit late, but well within typical time for a bounce. Get another reading in a month or so, and see what it says.
