Sal Bando

I'm sure many of us remember former baseball great, Sal Bando. Bando, who was captain of the Oakland As teams of the early 70s that won three straight World Series, passed yesterday after a 5+ years battle with cancer. The article on his passing did not specify what type cancer he had. Whenever I see a celebrity death that mentions cancer, without saying what kind, I can't help but wonder if it was prostate cancer. Regardless, may he rest in peace. Another part of my youth gone. I remember when my hometown Indians drafted Sal's younger brother, Chris, we expected to get similar production, but alas Chris was never quite the ball player that Sal was.
