It was one year ago today that I started my ADT treatment for my PCa diagnosis. I started with Casodex for a couple weeks before having my first 3-month Lupron shot. No serious side effects from my 3-month Lupron shot, so my urologist and I decided to go with a 6-month Lupron shot. June 2022, I started 9 weeks of radiation treatments. All of the treatments went well even the last 2 after I tested positive for Covid the morning of my 43rd treatment. PSA back in November 2022, my PSA was <0.06. I was given my second 6-month Lupron and continue to have minimal side effects, in my opinion. I would say that the side effects that are bothering me the most are loss of muscle tone and some belly fat build-up. I've been working my butt off doing bodyweight exercises and aerobic work. I've lost about 6 pounds and it hasn't been easy. I'll be extremely happy if I can lose 6 more pounds.
2022 was a very challenging year for me. Along with my PCa treatment, my mother died in April from advanced dementia. In October, I blew out my shoulder and had to stop playing golf and working out (which is mental health therapy to me). And in December, I thought that I had made it to the end of the year with no other life's challenges until December 14th when I was told that my brother had died unexpectedly. He was an inspiration to me while I was growing up and very supportive of my battle with PCa.
I've learned from this website that I need to appreciate each day that I wake up. Also, I have planned a golf trip to Scotland in April 2023. This is something that I've wanted to do since I retired in 2018. Unfortunately, I'm not on the list to play the Old Course at St. Andrews, so I'll be on my own to find a place to play.
On this one-year anniversary, I want to thank everyone here that has been supportive of me and also an inspiration to me. May God bless all of you.
