Small Cell - Symptoms?

Hello,

I’m in a scare for small cell PCA. I’m a 32M, 0.46 PSA level, lots of symptoms that came on suddenly (sharp back pain in the mid/upper and burning between shoulder blades, thigh pain, pain on inner let, testicular pain, GI discomfort/bloating, pins and needles in legs and arms just started few days ago and hasn’t gone away, random pains throughout the body, slight vertigo, and developing cough). No prior surgeries or conditions, no meds ever taken, workout daily.

I have had 2 CTs from 2 different places (abdomen/pelvis), and 2 US (testicular) which were clear. However my understanding is that CT would be useless to show PCA, especially metastatic small cell that has spread to bones or other parts.

PSA seems ok but fear is that in small cell it would not rise. I have appointments scheduled but mind is racing.

Has anyone had PCA with these symptoms and PSA levels? Or any input?

When I found out I had prostate cancer every one of those symptoms began. Heck…I was so convinced that it had spread, I started to limp!

I don’t normally say this. I don’t believe you have cancer.

Besides your symptoms, what makes you believe you do?

(FWIW…I’ve had all of those symptoms lately with another health scare. Once all the tests came back clean, my symptoms seem to have improved considerably).

It’s the symptoms, i have never had as much as a common cold and i have had HPV for about 12 years which doubles the risk from what i have read. It’s just so strange despite a 0.46 PSA, my balance is off, lower body getting weaker, hips and butt/glutes are in really bad pain and the symptoms just seem to be getting worse. Heart palpitations, pain urinating today for the first time, pain in feet. In the ER, they ruled out prostatitis (not sure how) and said my prostate was very normal size so not BPH. Absolutely terrified of small cell or some other type that doesn’t raise PSA.

I would put a serious (bacterial or viral) infection high on the list of possibilities.

You may have something wrong with you but it appears that your stress and anxiety levels are making the situation much worse. There is little reason to suspect rare diseases for your age as the cause of your problems. Your doctor will keep checking things out as long as you keep following up with him/her. There are blood and urine tests that can be run for almost everything imaginable and procedures to rule out many things as the process continues along.
