Hello all!
I am thinking about going to a physical therapy for pelvic floor rehab.

Does anyone know, is this more than doing kegals?

Yes more than kegals.

- clamshells, then with resistance bands of various colors

- bridges, then bridges holding a ball in between your knees

they have all sorts of things to exercise the pelvic floor.

I went for for PT for this and needed just one session to learn how to do proper kegels and get a progressive series of positions and exercises. I would have gone back had they not worked well.

You should do PT but also look into any gyrokinesis trainers in your area, and try a group class. You'll learn stuff you can then do at home on a stool. Great for strengthening core, mobilizing spine, and improving your posture!

It's a sub-set of Gyrotonic training, similar to how Pilates has machine-based work, and "Pilates mat" is exercises without any machine, on the floor...

My visit with a Urologist was at KU Medical School.
I met un-expectantly with a Urologist specializing in Women's urological issues.
I wasn't real happy, I was told after I did PT, I would get to see the regular Men's Urologist.
I thought I was being short changed. Also, because I went to ask if I could possibly now be a candidate for a Urological Sling (because of previous radiation to the pelvic floor, I was told NO before). He the Uro, just said he didn't know. Not even, an "I'll check into it" answer.

But upon your advice, I'll set that appointment.

To further the question, I was only leaking a little (except for stress incontinence), but a year and a half ago I started taking Xtandi, and leakage has gotten so much worse. I now carry 4 emergency pads with me to work in my sling back pack.

So, the question: Do you think I'm fighting a losing battle, it's been 8 years since radiation, 9 years 8 months since surgery, and 1 1/2 years since starting Xtandi.
Xtandi has made me even more tired (thanks Xtandi, you're working telling my body not to use what little T I have left)
It really seems like doing PT at this point will be useless.
I know I won't know until I try PT.
But I'm just tired of this whole f'ing "journey" (path to h3ll is more like it).
I'm tired of diapers and pads.
I'm tired of the afternoon leakage because my body is just too tired.
I can't even drink real tea anymore, darn diuretics.
Even as late as 2 years ago, I was taking walks as long as 2-7 miles.
I'm tired of being tired.
I guess I might have to see about upping my anti-depressant meds.

And this is one reason I won't let that other thread die. it's fun.

This is happening to me as well. I dont call it incontinent yet, i call it less continent. 3 months ago i wore a pad all day “just in case”, but now its just like you said 3 or 4 pads and Its directly correlated with me starting xtandi.

Hubby had pelvic floor PT with a specialist therapist. Unfortunately, it didn't help much. He had an AUS and it did the trick for about 7-8 years. The urologist can do a new cuff when it stops working, but doc said DH is not a candidate.

DYANK, I went to the Uro to ask about a Sling and/or an AUS. I'll try PT, and hope it does something.

So I think there is some truth to that. When I’m not any HT, my incontinence is bearable….not bad at all….but when I go on Xtandi for example .. (and btw, I’m only on Xtandi as mono therapy….normal T)….my incontinence is really bad…

Let us know how you make out…

Also -- not sure if this is an option for you, but I can confirm that yes, Lupron (or Firmagon, etc...) with Xtandi can make you really tired....but Xtandi just by itself does not make me tired at all...I guess it's all about the T...

I asked my uro for a referral for a PT that specialized in incontinence and the only one in the area (in the state for all I know) worked with kids and geriatrics. She had me doing kegels, which I’d already been doing and some other things and my incontinence got worse. After a few sessions she sort of shrugged. I went back to my uro and got the AUS.

(We were quite limited in providers at the time and its only become worse. Due to management issues, the turnover at our main medical place is crazy. My wife needs an eye specialist and they shrug. I understand their entire gastro department left. My wife’s primary care left and she called to get a replacement and none of the primary care docs there are taking new patients. And we live in the largest city in the state!)

I went to a PT after my RALP, and it really helped. He had me doing all sorts of moves while tightening my pelvic floor, like bird dogs, squats, lunges, planks, etc. it took a while, but was effective.
