SBRT is now available in Western PA

I’ve posted previously that when I was diagnosed 2017 that SBRT was not being used for PCa in Western PA. As a result I traveled to Cleveland Clinic for treatment. No regrets. I recently found out that Dr. Adam Olsen is using SBRT to treat PCa at UPMC. Just wanted to let folks in Western PA to be aware that another treatment option is available locally. Terry

Hi Terry- yes my husband went through sbrt with dr. Olsen at UMPC Shadyside last winter. He’s still taking abiriterone and Lupron and remains undetectable. I’m not sure how to add a signature with all of his specifics but PSA on diagnosis was 52 and Gleason score of 8 after biopsy. He opted for radiation and adt instead of RP. Praying he made the right decision due to the Intraductal and seminal vesicle invasion. 🙏
CORRECTION: my husband received EBRT as so kindly explained by Terry, however I am happy to see that UPMC is finally offering SBRT.

Pitgirl…Sounds like your guy has a tough diagnosis. I’ve found this forum to be a big help for myself and I hope going forward it helps your husband and yourself take some of the mystery out of this disease. Don’t be bashful about any questions. The people here a glad to share their experiences. You may wish to open the menu and go to the “My Profile” section to customize a signature. With his higher risk diagnosis a single monotherapy would probably not offer the best chances for a complete cure. Best wishes…Terry

I've done SBRT two years ago and did develop urinary stricture but everything else seems to be good.
Had dilation a few months ago and so far it's cleared up. I'd been close to urinary stricture and had a great deal of hematuria with clots.
